Skills Gap ReStore volunteers

The skills we look for in ReStore volunteers include a friendly attitude, willingness to help with projects and learn new skills. Retail experience and knowledge of building materials are helpful, but not required. Building or handyman skills are a plus.

Typical ReStore Jobs

Material Handling and Cleaning receiving area
Mon-Fri Noon to 5pm / Sat 9am to 5pm

Duties might include: greeting donors, lifting merchandise, using carts and moving items; sorting, cleaning, and inspecting merchandise; making simple repairs on furniture and other merchandise; moving merchandise to appropriate areas of the sales floor; placing merchandise on appropriate shelves

Merchandising Skills on Sales Floor
Mon-Sat 9am to 5pm

Duties might include: greeting ReStore customers; directing customers to merchandise sought; directing customers to staff and volunteers for assistance; providing and retrieving carts; moving and organizing merchandise; placing merchandise on appropriate shelves of similar items; cleaning merchandise and the display furnishings

ReStore Merchandising Associate
1-2 days a week, does not have to be all day, Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm

Duties include: an interest in organizing merchandise; help move and organize merchandise in store; arrange merchandise to obtain optimum sales.
