Meet Sonia and her son Angel, the proud homeowners of the House that SWAT Built in memory of Dave Ericson, one of eight homes in the Mesa Del Rio construction project.
Sonia graduated from the University of New Mexico in December 2014 and is currently a full-time employee for the Department of Pediatrics, as an Administrative Assistant for the division of Pediatrics Endocrinology.
Sonia says “I feel earning a degree has been a huge accomplishment. Another achievement has been cleaning-up my credit by consolidating my student loans. It has been a long and difficult journey, especially with the responsibility of raising a child, however, I am very proud and eager to continue nurturing my child and continue with my career at the Department of Pediatrics.”
Her dream has been to own a place that her son can call home. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the Habitat community saying, “This organization is very supportive, and I will in no doubt show my pride living in my home. This is a true blessing. I want to thank everyone who has made this dream possible.”
