Tithe funds build stronger, more stable communities

Since 2005 Greater Albuquerque Habitat has contributed approximately $220,000 to Guatemala which has helped build 50 homes for families in need.

Did you know that Habitat’s U.S. affiliates contribute 10% of their unrestricted revenue to the global mission? The tithe program provides funding for Habitat’s international work to eliminate poverty housing worldwide.

Tithing began 40 years ago and since then U.S. Habitat affiliates have tithed more than $272 million. In 2018, U.S. affiliates tithed $14 million to partner organizations abroad.

Your support builds homes locally and abroad

“Since 1988, our affiliate has tithed a total of $912,190 to support efforts to build homes in developing countries. In 2014 we made a commitment to do more by  tithing $1,000 a year to the Orphans and Vulnerable Groups Fund,” said Joan Costello, Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity Executive Director. “There are so many places and people in need of our help. This program is worthy of our ongoing support because tithing gives us the opportunity to share our resources with developing countries throughout the world.”

Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity is one of 128 affiliates who tithe to the Orphans and Vulnerable Groups Fund which helps provide adequate shelter and other interventions for vulnerable people in communities around the world. In 2018, U.S. affiliates contributed more than $263,000 to the Orphans and Vulnerable Groups Fund to support programs in Nepal, Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire.

The impact of your support reaches far beyond Albuquerque. With your help we will continue to improve people’s lives by building strength and security through shelter.
