OUR APPLICATION WINDOW IS NOW CLOSED

Thank you for your interest in the Habitat home ownership program. If you meet the qualifications listed below, please fill in the inquiry form at the bottom of this web page. You will be notified via email by Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity when we have additional information.

If you are interested in learning more about this exciting program please review the qualifications below (steps 1 through 7). Once you have read through the information and you feel that you meet all the criteria to become a Habitat Homeowner, there will be a form (step 8) to add your name to the Inquiry List.

PLEASE NOTE
Habitat builds approximately 4-6 houses per year and only two homes at a time, which means the list moves slow. Many people do not qualify due to credit and income issues – make sure you are competitive by following the steps and instructions below.

Do I Qualify?

There are many guidelines. At minimum, you must meet the following.

Have stable income and rental history

Meet the credit guidelines

This includes paying off all collections, judgments, and repossessions appearing on a credit report.

Be a first time home buyer

Consent to a background, sex offender, and credit check

Be willing to partner

Applicants will need to do Sweat Equity -a minimum of 550 hours of volunteer work- on their home.

Submit an inquiry

Please carefully read the required qualifications (steps 1-7), after which you will be prompted to fill out a form (step 8). This is an inquiry only not an application. Applications will be sent out to interested participants when we are accepting applications.

Step 1 of 8

  • #1 Credit

You want to become familiar with your credit. When we look at your credit, it must not have any collections, medical collections, judgements or liens. If you have any derogatory credit, it must be paid off in order to qualify. You are able to pull one free credit report per year. Freecreditreport.com will provide a free Experian Credit Report.
Another free outlet is AnnualCreditReport.com. If you are able to start working on this now, then when we get to your name on the inquiry list to call you to go over the program, you will be more prepared and aligned with homeownership.
